I wanted to cycle more, but prefer a flat bar bicycle, more comfortable, but the old MTB really was in a bad shape. Understandable, it is at least 15 years old, 26″ tyre GT Outpost, plenty of good times on this bike. Rode FRIM countless times, Genting Sempah multiple times. And not really keen to take out my TREK road bike for leisure ride around.
But it cost too much to get it back to good riding condition. the chain is rusted (My fault), the gear is not shifting smoothly.

Was browsing BicycleBuySell website, looking for a used hybrid bike with good value. Saw a Giant Escape 1 disc less than 2 years old selling for RM1500. I immediately message the seller for more detail. The owner got 3 bikes and this hybrid is not regularly used, he prefer the MTB and the RB. and the wife is asking him to clear some space in the condo.
I request for a test ride and after few minutes on the bike, I bought the bike from him. Everything within 48 hours.
Took the bike out for a ride on the first day of 2024. Really enjoy it, it is much lighter, the gear shift are smooth and brake work very well. I really like the height, and pure fun riding it.
Sent the old bike to recycle center, I hope maybe some foreign worker can make use of the bike for his commute. If not, land fill.
Will commit to cycle more frequent with this new bike, hopefully can keep this for another 10 years. Wondering if I can bring this bike up to ETS and do a Taiping/Ipoh joy ride. Since got a rack that I can carry small luggage.
Coincidently, this is my 3rd bicycle, all 3 are second hand. and all 3 cost me RM1500 each.
