MoH Github and Covicnow

Since the beginning of the pandemic in early 2020, the Malaysia Ministry of Health has been making daily press conferences to update the public on the status of the virus situation in Malaysia, even though the information was good, there was a lot of demand for more transparency and more detail for the public to do their own analysis.

Since somewhere in the middle of 2021, MoH decided to publish their data in Github, which was a very welcomed move that was applauded by the public. From the above contribution chart, it shows that July 21, 2021 was the day that regular update to Github started.

The raw data from be retrieve from the following link.

https://github.com/MoH-Malaysia/covid19-public

MoH also published another set of data specifically on vaccination information, and the link is as follow

https://github.com/CITF-Malaysia/citf-public

The following is a letter from the medical expert about it.

Immediately, everyone who is interested to do additional analysis, especially areas that are their focus, in health care, in vaccine data, started sharing their data that complement the analysis from MoH.

4 youth, consisting of front-end developers, back-end developers, UI designers, and data scientists, decided to volunteer their time, talent, and skill to build a website for MoH using the publicly available data.

https://covidnow.moh.gov.my/about/

They created CovicNow which is a great resource of deep analysis of the raw data and presented in a way that is easily digested and also relevant to the general public.

This website has very rich visualization on Covic19 and vaccine data.

I will be trying to reverse engineer the charts and table from the same raw data the team in Covicnow produces.

Please join the fun. Leave comments, suggestions. Thanks.
